Donna and I started this journey with God in the early eighties. I had fallen far away from God and Donna had never really known Jesus and his saving grace. I came back to The Lord and really made Jesus my Lord. Donna surrendered her life a few months later. We started going to a little Methodist church in Greenville In. We consumed the bible every chance we got. As our pastor Mode Powell saw our zeal and passion for Jesus he asked us to help with Sunday school, and different positions. We were thrilled The Lord could use us.
We saw the need for a youth group for our son David and we told the pastor of our concern. He said we should start one. We felt totally inadequate, knowing someone else could do it better, but we said yes. One summer Sunday afternoon in 1986 we met on our deck with our son David and six or seven other young people. We let them swim. We then attempted to praise Jesus acapella. The songs were “This Is The Day,” Power in the Blood,” and “Jesus Loves Me.” The message was: Jesus loves you and died for you. There is a heaven and there is a hell and you must decide who you will follow, and where you will spend eternity, all backed up with scripture. It was loosely called preaching but we were able to lead many young people to Jesus. After the lesson we cooked cheeseburgers, hotdogs. This became a every Sunday afternoon meeting. Though we still attended church regular, youth was our mission. We discipled many young people and saw many come to The Lord through lock ins, concerts and even Kings Island trips were all focused on souls.
As youth became young adults we saw the need for a way to disciple them so we started adult youth group on Friday nights. We praised The Lord, had Bible study, prayed for each other and had a meal together. We were from many churches but we all had Jesus in common.
We continued youth group and Fridays for several years. In 1991several of us decided we would form a church because certain decisions in the denominations we belonged to were not lining up with the word of God. On November 1, 1991 we had our first Sunday church service in the woods behind our house. We met In different homes for a time. I had a vision of renovating our old barn loft into a church. I shared it with my friend Mike Mosier. We agreed in prayer in the loft one cold Friday night and believed God would accomplish the task. The vision was birthed. Some time later through lots of hard work by many different people (Thank you Ted Blatz.)we had a simple pre civil war era barn loft, converted to a church. Our first meeting there was on chilly Easter Sunday morning. Seven people were born again that day.
We had many wonderful moves of God in the barn. We were known for our praise and worship uncompromising preaching, souls, and Prayer for revival. In 1996 we visited the great Revival in Pensacola Fl. We received a touch from God, a fresh anointing and a unquenchable thirst and hunger for revival. When this move of God hit not everyone agreed and some parted ways but one thing was for sure we would never be the same. Visitors called us the barn church, our name had been Greenville Community church but when we became spirit filled we became Faith Harvest Assembly.
On June 26, 2003 our church was destroyed by fire. The building was gone but the church ( the people) were in tact.Through many miracles God placed us in a awesome facility at 6310 Buttontown Rd. on eighteen acres. Though we aren’t in a barn any longer the simplicity of the gospel, love for souls and revival haven’t changed. We have been through many fires and tribulations since but our heart has never changed. We contend for souls, revival and the Third Great Awakening. Many details and miracles have been left out, and the all point to Gods faithfulness, and His pleasure with perseverance.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
We Believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. Every word has been fulfilled, or will be fulfilled. The word of God is not a parable. It is to be taken literally. Though people, society, and morals change the Word of God changes not. Truth is truth. There is absolute truth and the word of God is truth.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
There is only one way to be saved. John 14:6 Jesus said: “I Am, THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE, no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
“WE BELIEVE JESUS”
And He said to them, “ Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe:In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Those who believe will be used by God and empowered by the Holy Spirit to do even greater works than Jesus did.
12 “ Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
WORSHIP: First worship, love, and serve God
SOULS: Serve others by giving them the gospel, loving them, being their friends and telling them truth.
REVIVAL: praying, seeking, craving, true revival that changes hearts, families, cities, regions, nations, and the world.
“THE FOUR WINDS OF HEAVEN”
I received a prophetic word on September 20, 2002. I was in the woods praying and seeking the Lord and God gave me a detailed vision called The Four Wind of heaven. The word goes into great detail and can be read by anyone who would like.
The four winds are named:
WIND OF REPENTANCE
WIND OF REVIVAL
WIND OF REFORMATION
WIND OF RESTORATION
We believe if we faint not we will see all these visions come to fruition.
This is the short version borrowed from a Christian song :
I believe in God the Father, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ His only son, I believe in the virgin birth.
I believe in the Man of Sorrows, bruised for iniquities.
I believe in the lamb who was crucified, and hung between two thieves.
I believe in the resurrection, on the third and glorious day
I believe in the empty tomb, and the stone that the angel rolled away
He descended and set the captives free
And now He sits at God’s right hand and prepares a place for me
This is my creed
The witness I have heard
The faith that has endured
This truth is assured
Through the darkest ages past
Though persecuted it will last
And I will hold steadfast
To this creed
I believe He sent His spirit, to comfort and to reveal
To lead us into truth and light, to baptize and to seal
I believe He will come back, the way He went away and..
Receive us all unto Himself but no man know that day.
I believe He is the judge, of all things small and great
The resurrected souls of men, receive from Him their fate
Some to death and some to life, some to their reward
Some to sing eternal praise, forever to the Lord
And through the darkest ages past
Though persecuted it will last
And I will hold steadfast
To this creed.
Space limits all of what we believe. Be sure to read the Bible and know for yourself what to believe. Any questions of our doctrine we would be glad to answer.
